The California Foundation for Birds of Prey is a nonprofit organization involved in a broad spectrum of activities including avian medicine, public education, and raptor rehabilitation.

CFBP is committed to the needs of raptors - hawks, owls,  falcons, vultures, and especially eagles.

The California Foundation for Birds of Prey was started in the early nineties. Originally a very small operation, this organization was dedicated to the rehabilitation of injured birds of prey (otherwise known as raptors). Over the last thirteen years, CFBP has grown with the number of fabulous individuals involved, obtainable ideals and goals, and the demands of raptor rehabilitation.

CFBP now oversees the care of approximately 150 injured raptors in a year. All the raptors arriving at the foundation receive full medical evaluation and treatment as necessary. Many of the injuries and diseases the raptors face are life threatening and end in the death of the bird. For those that are releasable, much effort and time is required to ensure they are properly conditioned for release. For a small number of non-releasable raptors, they may be placed with an approved educational facility. CFBP has become a leader in the field for establishing an eagle program to care for these magnificent raptors.

The goals CFBP has established have not changed. They include conservation, education and rehabilitation of birds of prey. Each category of goal has expanded and encompassed more ideas. As you read through this website, you will see all the exciting accomplishments CFBP has been and will be working on.

Come join us won’t you? We'd love to have your support!
